West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen swapped the pitch for Albert Square in a surprise EastEnders appearance during Wednesday’s episode. The footballer sent a video message to lifelong Hammers fan Billy Mitchell (played by Perry Fenwick) as part of his stag party at the Queen Vic.

Bowen, engaged to actress Dani Dyer (daughter of EastEnders legend Danny Dyer), cheered Billy ahead of his wedding, leaving fans delighted. But manager Graham Potter hopes the 27-year-old sticks to scoring goals over chasing Oscars. “I need to see it—it’s not going to win an Oscar, is it?” Potter quipped, dismissing comparisons to ex-footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones.

Jones famously transitioned from Wimbledon’s “Crazy Gang” to Hollywood roles in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. But with West Ham’s attack depleted by injuries, Potter needs Bowen focused on football. Striker Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug remain sidelined, while winger Crysencio Summerville suffered a setback in his hamstring recovery, ruling him out until April.

New loan signing Evan Ferguson, arriving from Brighton in January, could debut against Brentford. “He’s ready to help the team,” said Potter, cautiously optimistic about the 19-year-old’s impact.

Despite Bowen’s brief acting stint, Potter laughed off concerns about losing his star to showbiz: “It’s hard enough keeping real fans happy without worrying about fictional ones!”
