Released in 1969, Get Together became a cultural touchstone with its hopeful chorus: “Come on people now / Smile on your brother / Everybody get together / Try to love one another right now.” The track gained renewed fame in films like Forrest Gump (1994), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007).
Penned by folk artist Dino Valenti (using the alias Chet Powers), the song’s message of unity resonated globally. Young’s velvety vocals transformed it into a counterculture staple, earning it a permanent place in music history.
