Second Bread Brand Recalled Urgently After Glass Shards Found in Product
Bread Recalled in Five States Over Glass Contamination Concerns
Giant Eagle supermarkets have recalled multiple multigrain sourdough bread products across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Indiana, and West Virginia due to potential glass contamination. Affected items include Multigrain Sourdough Freshly Baked, Half Multigrain Sourdough Artisan Bread, and Multigrain Sourdough Artisan Bread with sell-by dates between April 7–12. The FDA flagged the risk as a Class II recall, meaning the products may cause temporary health issues but pose low risk of severe harm.

The contamination originated from Upper Crust Bakery in Maryland, which recalled 818 cases of bread earlier in April after glass fragments were found in sunflower seeds. While Giant Eagle initially unaware of the issue, the FDA confirmed glass on some loaves. No injuries have been reported.
