AFL Mourns Sudden Death of Adam Selwood at 41, Months After Twin Brother’s Passing
The AFL community is in shock following the sudden death of former West Coast Eagles player Adam Selwood, 41, just months after the passing of his twin brother, Troy, in February.
Adam, a 2006 premiership hero who played 187 games for the Eagles, was remembered by his wife, Fiona, as a devoted family man. In a heartfelt statement, she said: “We are heartbroken. Adam was a loving husband and an incredible father. His spirit, kindness, and the joy he brought to every room will stay with us forever.”
The Selwood family, which includes four AFL-playing brothers, is now grieving the loss of two members in under four months. At Troy’s funeral in February, Adam had described his twin as “full of life, love, and wisdom,” calling their bond “a rare privilege.”
Former West Coast coach Adam Simpson expressed his sorrow, saying, “It breaks your heart.”
