Mysterious “Alien” Creature Caught on California Woman’s Doorbell Camera
Jessica Ortiz of Compton, California, shared eerie Ring camera footage from June 5 that appears to show a strange, humanoid figure walking through her backyard late at night. The clip, posted to her Instagram, sparked debate online about whether the blurry figure could be evidence of extraterrestrial life.

The video, captured around 1 a.m. PT, shows a hunched creature approximately 3–4 feet tall. It had a large, bulbous head; a bony, protruding spine; and a thin neck that seemingly emerged from its chest. The figure walked across Ortiz’s driveway before exiting through a back gate, which audibly slammed shut.
Ortiz told YouTube channel The Hidden Underbelly 2.0 that while her home has multiple motion-activated cameras, only the front doorbell camera recorded the incident. “That’s why we know it’s not a person—there’s only one way in and out,” she said, noting the creature seemed to “materialize out of nowhere” in the footage.
Family’s Terrifying Experience
Minutes before the sighting, Ortiz’s aunt, who lives next door, reported hearing loud banging and scratching on her roof. Though Ortiz and her son were awake, they saw nothing suspicious until the camera alert. “My son watched the video three times and said, ‘Mom, it’s an alien—call the cops!’” she recalled. However, Ortiz hesitated, fearing she’d “sound crazy.”

Alien or Hoax?
The host of The Hidden Underbelly suggested the figure resembled “the Greys”—a commonly reported UFO-linked species. He described two types of Greys: tall beings and shorter, child-sized ones with distinct features matching the creature in Ortiz’s video. Skeptics, however, question whether it could be a prankster in a costume. “This would have to be a very small person,” the host conceded.
Ring’s $1 Million Alien Challenge
In 2023, Ring offered $1 million for proof of extraterrestrial life after a surge in alien-themed videos. Though most were debunked as drones or meteors, Ortiz expressed interest in submitting her footage. “It’s not edited,” she insisted. No one claimed the prize last year.

While Ortiz stopped short of calling the figure an “alien,” she admitted, “We’re not the only ones in this universe.” The video continues to fuel speculation, leaving viewers to wonder: Could this be a glimpse of the unknown, or just an elaborate hoax?
