Geelong Cats midfielder Bailey Smith, 25, has sent fans into a frenzy after announcing his arrival on Tinder. The AFL heartthrob revealed he’s embracing the app’s new “Double Date” feature, inviting supporters to match with him and his best mate, “Gorms,” for group hangouts.
Tinder Move Sparks Buzz
Smith shared the news via an Instagram video, joking about his hectic schedule. “Guys, I’ve done it—I’ve joined Tinder,” he said. “The Double Date feature lets you match with pairs and jump into a group chat. With my schedule, it’s hard to get out there, so this is perfect. Gorms is my wingman—come find us!”

The announcement comes after Smith’s split from long-term girlfriend Gemma Dawkins in 2024. The pair dated for two years, making their public debut at Melbourne’s 2023 Derby Day.
Injury Struggles and Personal Growth
Smith missed the 2024 AFL season due to an ACL injury while at the Western Bulldogs, a period he admits led to personal turmoil. “When you’re stuck with just yourself, you realize you need to sort your life out,” he told the Real Stuff podcast. “I coped by partying too much—it was a rough patch.”
His candidness extends to past controversies. Earlier this year, he faced backlash for a since-deleted Instagram comment referencing “nose beers” (slang for cocaine) after a match. AFL CEO Andrew Dillon condemned the remark, stating, “Drug use shouldn’t be joked about.” Smith later apologized.

Fresh Start at Geelong
Now with Geelong, Smith is focused on his career, eyeing a premiership in September. Despite off-field drama, his form on the field remains strong, with fans eagerly swiping right on his Tinder profile.
