Former Norwich City and Maidstone United midfielder Devonte Aransibia has passed away at the age of 26, his family confirmed. The London-born player began his career at Norwich’s youth academy before leaving in 2019, embarking on a journey through non-league football with clubs including Kingstonian, Billericay Town, and Chesham United.

Aransibia was part of Maidstone United’s historic 2023-24 FA Cup campaign, which saw the sixth-tier side stun Ipswich Town in a fourth-round upset. His goal and assist against Chesham in the first round helped ignite the team’s dream run, which ended in a valiant 5-0 defeat to Coventry City.

Heartfelt Tributes
Aransibia’s family described him as a “loving partner, devoted father, and cherished friend” in a statement accompanying a GoFundMe fundraiser. They highlighted his “infectious laughter” and “generous spirit,” adding: “His talent on the pitch was matched only by his kindness off it.”

A Journey Through Football
After departing Norwich, Aransibia showcased his skills at non-league clubs, including Potters Bar, Chelmsford City, and Tonbridge Angels. Troy Townsend, father of ex-England winger Andros Townsend, shared heartfelt memories of a young Aransibia: “Shocked beyond belief. I’ll always remember his cheeky smile and determination on the field.”

Teammates and fans flooded social media with tributes. Joe Boachie, a former colleague, wrote: “I can’t believe it. RIP Devonte,” while commentator Matt Eastley praised his “joy to watch.”

The football community continues to rally around his family, honoring a player whose passion left an indelible mark.
