Oscar-nominated actor Paul Mescal, 29, embraced his Irish roots on Saturday as he attended the All-Ireland hurling final in Dublin with his father, Paul Snr. The Gladiators star, hailing from Maynooth, joked about scoring free tickets to the coveted event, where Cork faced off against Tipperary.
“The All-Ireland final day is one of the most special days in the calendar,” Paul told the BBC from the stands. “To be here with Dad—we’re so lucky to get more free tickets to another final!” His father added, “It’s phenomenal. This is the pinnacle of Irish sport—you have to be here to feel the atmosphere.”

Singer Tom Grennan, 30, also attended the game with his father, seated behind the Mescal duo. Hurling, a traditional Gaelic sport known for its speed and physicality, remains a cornerstone of Irish culture.
Relationship Buzz with Gracie Abrams
The outing followed Paul’s recent Instagram debut with girlfriend Gracie Abrams, 25. The pair, who reportedly celebrated their first anniversary in June, sparked engagement rumors after Gracie was spotted wearing a ring on her left hand. Paul has long kept his private life under wraps, telling GQ in 2024, “How I am in my private life is precious… it’s not public-obligated information.”

Gracie, daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams, made her Glastonbury debut in June, supported by Paul’s sister Nell and her own family. She later sported Paul’s signature baseball cap during her BST Hyde Park performance in July.
What’s Next for Mescal
Paul, currently promoting the WWII gay romance The History of Sound (out September 12), continues balancing Hollywood success with Irish pride. Meanwhile, Gracie’s career soars after opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
