Richard Gere, 75, appeared nearly unrecognizable during a casual outing in Madrid, Spain, this week. The Pretty Woman star dressed down in a gray hoodie, joggers, and a baseball cap, opting for a low-key look as he ran errands solo. The actor recently moved to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, and their two young sons, Alexander, six, and James, four.

Gere’s relocation marks a significant shift for the Hollywood icon, who has spent most of his career in the U.S. During a November 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he joked about the move, saying, “My wife is Spanish. Is this a problem for anybody out there?” After the audience groaned, he assured them, “I’ll be back,” while praising Silva as an “incredible” mother and partner. “The kids are healthy and happy. There’s nothing more than that,” he added.

Gere and Silva tied the knot in 2018 after reconnecting in Italy in 2014. Despite their 34-year age gap, the couple bonded over shared interests in spirituality and philanthropy. The actor also shares a 25-year-old son, Homer, with ex-wife Carey Lowell. Following his divorce from Lowell in 2013 after 11 years of marriage, Gere found new joy in family life with Silva.

Earlier this year, the couple sold their Connecticut estate, previously owned by musician Paul Simon, ahead of their move to Spain. In an interview with Vanity Fair España, Gere emphasized fairness in their partnership: “She gave me six years in my world, so I’ll give her six in hers.”

Fans have praised the actor’s commitment to his family, with many noting his contentment in recent public appearances. During his Madrid outing, Gere’s relaxed demeanor highlighted his embrace of this new chapter.

For now, the star seems focused on settling into Spanish life, balancing fatherhood, and cherishing time with his wife and children. As he told Vanity Fair, “Life is about giving and receiving love—everything else follows.”
