Coote’s refereeing career collapsed in December 2024 when a separate leaked clip surfaced online. In the video, he referred to Klopp as a “German ****,” prompting an FA disciplinary probe and his subsequent dismissal by PGMOL. The FA deemed the remark an “aggravated breach” of conduct rules due to its reference to nationality.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb later stated a return to officiating would be “challenging” for Coote, citing the irreversible damage to his reputation.
