Vernon Kay has slammed critics who claim he’s “too old” for nightclubs. The 51-year-old BBC Radio 2 host, a DJ for over 20 years, told The Sun that ageist remarks “wind him up.” Defending his love for nightlife, he said, “Clubs are where generations connect through music. People say, ‘You’re 50 and still go out?’ Yeah—why not? It’s about energy, not age.” Vernon, who recently partied in Ibiza with his 20-year-old daughter Phoebe, added, “She calls me her best mate. We’re making memories, not checking birth certificates.”

At home, Vernon and wife Tess Daly, 56, balance parenting daughters Phoebe and Amber, 16, with a flexible approach. The couple alternates “good cop, bad cop” roles to keep their teens guessing. “We guide them but let them learn independently,” Vernon said. Tess, a Strictly Come Dancing host, echoed, “They need space to grow—we’re here to support, not control.”

Tess, famed for her timeless looks, credits fitness—not diets—for her vitality. She still fits into jeans from her 20s, attributing her physique to yoga, treadmill runs during Netflix binges, and garden trampolining. “Yoga keeps me grounded and flexible,” she told MailOnline. “It’s my daily reset button.”
Vernon’s clubbing zeal and Tess’s active lifestyle defy stereotypes, proving age is just a number. As Vernon quipped, “Life’s too short to let critics dim your sparkle.”
