Arsenal’s Jens Lehmann Arrested for Drink-Driving in Lederhosen After Split and Chainsaw Incident

Jens Lehmann’s Drunk Driving Arrest: Key Details and Past Controversies

Former Arsenal and Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann faced severe intoxication during his arrest for alleged drunk driving in Munich last September, according to reports. The 55-year-old was pulled over by police around 1:30 a.m. while wearing lederhosen after attending Oktoberfest celebrations. Officers noted a strong alcohol odor emanating from his Audi S3 and observed him struggling to stand or locate his driver’s license.

Lehmann reportedly vomited multiple times and failed breathalyzer tests, leading to blood tests at a forensic institute. Prosecutors have sought a €70,000 (£60,000) fine, and his license was confiscated. A trial is scheduled for April 3, with Lehmann appealing the charges.

Prior Legal Troubles
This incident adds to Lehmann’s mounting legal issues. In 2023, he was fined €130,000 (£112,500) for property damage and attempted fraud after using a chainsaw to dismantle a neighbor’s garage roof beams in 2022. Criminal charges were dropped following a settlement exceeding €58,000 (£50,000). He also faced penalties for unpaid parking fines.

Personal Struggles
Lehmann’s personal life has also faltered. Reports suggest his marriage to wife Conny, 52, ended due to his ongoing troubles. The couple, married since 1999, had been living separately, with Conny moving on to a new relationship. They reportedly vacationed together last summer for their children’s sake but were seen separately at Oktoberfest—Lehmann mingling with young women while Conny stayed with friends.

Career Highlights and Downfall
Lehmann was a key figure in Arsenal’s historic “Invincibles” 2003-04 season, making 200 appearances across two spells. Post-retirement, he ventured into coaching, punditry, and acting. However, his reputation has been marred by controversies, including a 2009 suspension from Stuttgart for unauthorized Oktoberfest partying.

As legal proceedings loom, Lehmann’s legacy remains overshadowed by reckless behavior both on and off the field.
