UFC lightweight fighters Chris Duncan and Mateusz Rebecki left fans stunned after their brutal co-main event at UFC Vegas 108 resulted in both men being rendered nearly unrecognizable by blood, swelling, and cuts. The three-round war saw underdog Duncan (14-2) claim a unanimous decision victory over Rebecki (20-3), but neither escaped unscathed in one of the year’s most violent bouts.

Rebecki, the pre-fight favorite, endured a savage beatdown. By the final round, his right eye was swollen to the size of a golf ball, severely limiting his vision, while Duncan sported a gruesome gash below his left eye. Despite his injuries, the Scottish fighter dominated the scorecards (29-28, 29-28, 30-27), extending his win streak and handing Rebecki just his third career loss.

The bout drew praise from UFC legend Dustin Poirier, who tweeted, “Bravo men!! What a WAR!! You both should be proud.” The respect was mutual: until recently, Duncan and Rebecki were teammates at American Top Team, sharing living quarters in Florida. Rebecki admitted pre-fight that the matchup was mentally taxing. “It’s hard… You see your opponent training, so you push yourself to do more,” he said. “But I didn’t want to fight him—he’s my teammate.”

The fight’s brutality echoed recent UFC horrors. Just a week earlier, Mohammad Yahya suffered a grotesque eye injury in Abu Dhabi after opponent Steven Nguyen scored a record six knockdowns in one fight.

While Duncan left Las Vegas victorious, the haunting images of this clash will linger as a testament to MMA’s unforgiving nature.
