A Proposal with a Twist
Davina recounted how Michael planned a beach lunch at a spot meaningful to their family, followed by a cliff walk. However, her choice of “god-forsaken pink cowboy boots with steel toe caps” left her struggling during the hike. “I wasn’t in cliff-climbing attire,” she laughed, adding she pushed through her irritation to make Michael happy. At the summit, Michael delivered a heartfelt speech (which Davina prefers to keep private) before proposing.

The couple’s journey to engagement wasn’t without humor. Michael had jokingly pretended to propose multiple times by kneeling to tie his shoelace. “After four or five fake-outs, it became a running joke,” Davina shared.

On Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast, Davina tearfully recalled asking Michael the same questions repeatedly, fearing he’d leave. “I thought, ‘He doesn’t want to be with me,’” she admitted. Michael reassured her, joking, “You’re just a bit annoying at the moment,” which eased her anxieties. “I laughed with relief,” she said. “I knew I’d get back to myself.”
