Elon Musk’s Tesla Diner Customers Slam $12 ‘Epic Bacon’ as Overpriced, Subpar in Hollywood

Elon Musk’s Tesla Diner Faces Backlash Over $12 “Epic Bacon” and Food Quality

Elon Musk’s Tesla Diner in Hollywood launched last week with much excitement, blending a retro-futuristic dining experience with Tesla Supercharging stations. However, the futuristic eatery is already sparking controversy over its food quality and prices, particularly for its "Epic Bacon."

High Hopes, Mixed Results
The diner, part of a rebranded 1950s-style drive-in, offers 250 seats and a diverse menu ranging from $7 cinnamon rolls to $13.50 burgers. Yet the $12 Epic Bacon—four maple-glazed, peppered bacon strips—has drawn sharp criticism. Tesla’s promotional image shows thick, crispy bacon in a neat cup, while Rolling Stone journalist Miles Klee shared a starkly different reality on X: a nearly empty container with one limp rasher peeking out, viewed over 6 million times.

Klee criticized the bacon as “chewy, not crunchy” with an overly sweet glaze, calling the price “unjustifiable.” His $13.50 burger also arrived with a missing bun half and a charred patty. Social media erupted, with users slamming the $12 bacon as “wild” and “robbery.”

Mixed Reviews and Menu Highlights
Not all experiences were negative. One X user shared a bacon serving that matched Tesla’s promo, praising its crispiness and maple flavor, rating it a “light 8.” The diner’s menu includes breakfast items like $11 tacos, $13.50 burgers, and kid’s meals served in CyberTruck-themed boxes.

A Vision Beyond Food
Tesla bills the venue as a “Supercharging station, classic diner, and drive-in” on Route 66. While the concept merges innovation with nostalgia, early reviews suggest the kitchen may need refinement. For now, the Tesla Diner remains a quirky pitstop—whether for charging cars or curiosity-driven diners.
