Western Bulldogs star Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was reportedly present at Melbourne’s Love Machine nightclub during a violent altercation early Sunday morning, where a firearm was discharged. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at the Prahran venue around 2:25 AM, though no injuries have been reported.

Victoria Police confirmed a physical fight erupted on Malvern Road, followed by a gunshot. “Parties fled the scene, and the Armed Crime Squad is leading the investigation,” a spokesperson said. Media outlets, including News Corp and Seven, reported Ugle-Hagan’s presence, though Daily Mail Australia stresses no allegations tie him to the violence.
The 23-year-old forward has faced a turbulent year, stepping away from the AFL in May to address mental health struggles. In a public statement earlier this year, he admitted to hitting “rock bottom” and battling suicidal thoughts. His off-field behavior, including social media controversies and late-night outings, has drawn criticism from club officials and fans.

Love Machine’s troubled past adds context to the incident. The venue, operated by Sterling Nightclub Pty Ltd, was fined $20,000 in 2023 for licensing breaches and has ties to outlaw motorcycle gangs. In April 2024, a fatal stabbing occurred nearby, and a 2019 shooting outside the club left two dead and three injured. Recent weeks saw gang-related clashes, including a brawl hospitalizing three men in July.
Ugle-Hagan, once a top draft pick, has been working toward an AFL return despite setbacks. Sources say he aims to fulfill his Bulldogs contract, though speculation persists about potential moves to Sydney or St Kilda. The Bulldogs declined to comment on the latest incident.
