Julianne Hough, 37, revealed her desire to undergo a dramatic transformation: shaving her head during a spiritual trip to Bhutan. The Dancing with the Stars cohost shared her plans on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, explaining that the act symbolizes a deeper personal “excavation” after years of change.

“I want to go to Bhutan and shave my head with a monk,” Hough told host Amanda Hirsch. Initially, the goal was simply to buzz her hair, but she later added layers of travel and spirituality. “It’s weird—I’ve been wanting to do this my whole life,” she admitted.

To prepare, Hough consulted celebrity hairstylist Riawna Capri about creating a wig matching her current blonde bob. “I need to replicate this as a wig so I can shave [my head] and still be good for work,” she said. The Utah native, known for roles in Footloose and Rock of Ages, emphasized that this change reflects her journey of shedding old identities.

Hough linked her decision to recent life shifts, including her 2022 divorce from ex-husband Brooks Laich. “I’ve been through a big excavation process… all the systems of protection, who you think you should be—they’ve gone away,” she said. Moving out of her longtime home marked the final step in letting go of “material things.”
