Kayla Nicole has vehemently denied speculation that her viral Halloween costume—a homage to R&B legend Toni Braxton—was a subtle dig at ex-boyfriend Travis Kelce and his fiancée Taylor Swift. The influencer, who dated the Kansas City Chiefs star on and off for five years, faced social media theories after recreating Braxton’s 2000 music video for He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me. Fans linked lyrics like “Do you know I dumped your husband, girlfriend?” and “He wasn’t man enough for me” to Kelce and Swift’s high-profile romance.
Nicole addressed the rumors on her podcast The Pre-Game, stating, “Halloween is about celebrating icons, not tearing others down. I’m in the business of lifting women up.” She emphasized her admiration for Braxton, calling the singer “chef’s kiss,” and dismissed claims of intentional shade: “Why can’t a Black woman celebrate another Black woman without scrutiny?”

The backlash followed Swift’s rumored lyrical jab at Nicole in her new song Opalite, which fans interpreted as referencing Kelce’s past relationship. Lines like “You were in it for real, she was in her phone” seemingly allude to a resurfaced clip where Kelce admonished Nicole for scrolling during a date. Nicole has not directly addressed the song but recently deleted her social media amid controversy over offensive posts from 2010.

Alleged tweets containing racist and homophobic slurs circulated online, prompting Nicole to deactivate her accounts. While she has not confirmed their authenticity, the posts overshadowed her Halloween narrative.
Nicole’s team has yet to comment further, but the podcaster insists her Braxton tribute was purely artistic: “I embody legends—not drama.”
