Shaquille Green, 29, has been charged with murder in the death of Toraya Reid, the 28-year-old sister of Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid. Green, who was reportedly dating Toraya, was arrested Saturday after police found her fatally shot at a New Jersey apartment complex. Authorities say he was caught fleeing the scene and also faces charges for unlawful firearm possession.

Toraya Reid’s body was discovered at the Paragon apartment complex in Jackson, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer confirmed Green’s arrest, adding that a handgun believed to be connected to the shooting was recovered.

Toraya, who was Naz Reid’s older sister, played a pivotal role in his life. “My sister was super protective—she treated us like she was our parent,” Naz said in a 2023 interview. “Everybody made sure I was okay, especially her.”

Naz, 26, has not publicly commented but shared childhood photos of them on Instagram. His sister Jakahya posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook: “I’ll never forgive God for taking you. I just talked to you last night… I’m disgusted. I’m hurt. But most of all, I’m angry.”

Green remains in custody as investigations continue. The Timberwolves organization issued a statement mourning Toraya’s loss and offering support to Naz, who signed a $42 million contract in 2023.
