Customer Reactions
Social media flooded with complaints. “My money hasn’t turned up after being sent,” one user tweeted. Another wrote, “When Monzo does you dirty and goes down on payday.” Reports spanned major cities, including London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Resolution and Response
Monzo confirmed the issue was resolved by late morning, stating: “There are no ongoing issues.” However, the bank has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage.

Why It Matters
Monzo, used by over 9 million customers, emphasizes reliability. Outages risk eroding trust, especially during financial milestones like payday. Competitors like Revolut and Starling Bank faced similar issues in 2024, highlighting vulnerabilities in digital banking infrastructure.

The incident underscores the need for robust backup systems as fintech apps become primary banking tools. Monzo users are advised to monitor accounts for updates.
