"Aubrey Plaza Makes First Public Appearance Weeks After Husband’s Suicide and Revelation of Private Secret"
Key Adjustments:
- Replaced "surfaces" with "makes first public appearance" for clarity and formality.

- Used "private secret" to imply confidentiality without sensationalism.
- Omitted "grieving" as the context of suicide inherently conveys grief, streamlining the title while retaining empathy.

Aubrey Plaza, 40, was photographed walking her dog in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood over the weekend, marking one of her first public outings since her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, died by suicide in January 2025. The actress, known for Parks and Recreation, appeared solemn but composed while accompanied by a friend.
Plaza wore a light blue tie-dye T-shirt, matching New Balance sweat shorts, and a Philadelphia Phillies cap, shielding her eyes with round sunglasses. She accessorized with ivory sneakers and a white sweatshirt tied around her waist.

Marital Struggles and Tragic Loss
An autopsy report from the LA County Medical Examiner revealed Plaza and Baena, 47, had been separated since September 2024. The couple, who began dating in 2011 and married privately in 2020, faced marital difficulties leading up to his death. Baena was in therapy and reportedly made “concerning remarks” to Plaza in October 2024, prompting her to request a welfare check.

Baena was found dead in his LA home on January 3 by a dog walker who heard unusual loud music and entered after receiving no response. The report confirmed no drugs or alcohol were in his system. Plaza, living in New York at the time, had last communicated with him via text the morning of his death.
Silent Tributes and Moving Forward
Plaza’s first public appearance after the tragedy was at Saturday Night Live’s 50th-anniversary special in February, where she honored Baena by wearing his tie-dye shirt.

A representative for Plaza previously stated, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Baena, a NYU film graduate, worked with directors like Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell before writing and directing indie films such as Life After Beth (2014) and The Little Hours (2017).
Plaza has yet to publicly address Baena’s death but continues to focus on her career, including upcoming projects like Agatha All Along for Marvel Studios.
