Beloved actor Jimmy Martin, best known for his role as “Auld Eric” in the hit BBC sitcom Still Game, has passed away at 93. His management team, Red Shoe Entertainment, confirmed the news in a heartfelt Facebook post, praising his “warmth, humour, and unforgettable performances” that “brought joy to so many.”

Martin appeared in 47 episodes of Still Game from 2002 to 2018, becoming a fan favorite as the sharp-tongued pensioner in the Glasgow-set comedy. The show, which followed the antics of elderly friends Jack (Ford Kiernan) and Victor (Greg Hemphill), ran for nine seasons and became a cultural phenomenon in Scotland. Its final series in 2019 was among the first programs aired on the newly launched BBC Scotland channel.

Tributes Pour In
Co-stars and colleagues honored Martin’s legacy. Jane McCarry, who played gossipy shopkeeper Isa Drennan, called him a “fantastic character, full of stories and fun,” adding that his 2023 British Empire Medal for community service “meant so much to him.” Former producer Michael Hines described him as a “wonderful actor” and a cherished friend.
