Title: "Lukas Gage Admits Marriage to Kim Kardashian Hairstylist Chris Appleton Nearly Ruined His Acting Career"

Lukas Gage Opens Up About How Marriage to Kim Kardashian’s Stylist Chris Appleton Impacted His Career

Lukas Gage, the White Lotus actor, has revealed that his whirlwind marriage to Kim Kardashian’s hairstylist Chris Appleton in 2023 nearly derailed his acting career. The couple tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by Kardashian and attended by Shania Twain in April 2023, but filed for divorce just seven months later, finalizing their split in June 2024.

Gage, 30, admitted the highly publicized relationship led casting agents to reject him for roles, believing his newfound fame overshadowed his work. “People thought I was clout-chasing, but it actually hurt my career,” he told The Independent. “Casting agents said I had too much of a public persona. They wouldn’t let me audition.”

The actor, who played a gay character in The White Lotus Season 1, also confessed he rushed into the marriage partly to counter accusations of “queerbaiting” after facing criticism for not being openly LGBTQ+ at the time. “I lashed out in this public way that didn’t feel authentic,” he said. “Suddenly, the relationship overshadowed my work.”

Gage empathized with Heartstopper star Kit Connor, who was pressured to come out as bisexual after playing a queer role. “People came for me, saying I was ‘stealing’ a gay role. It felt like a witch hunt,” he shared. Connor, 18, faced similar scrutiny in 2022, which Gage called “unfair bullying.”

The couple’s split was finalized with a divorce settlement waiving spousal support, per court documents. A source told TMZ the split followed Chris’s efforts to “make the marriage work,” but Gage later described the union as “manic and unhinged” during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

When host Andy Cohen asked about cheating rumors, Gage denied them but hinted at an NDA: “I plead the fifth.” Reflecting on the marriage, he admitted, “I had a manic episode for six months. What happened to me? We live and learn.”

The Vegas wedding, featured on The Kardashians, included a serenade by Shania Twain and drew backlash for its rapid timeline. Gage now acknowledges the fallout but remains focused on rebuilding his career, stating, “I’m ready to let my work speak for itself again.”
