Title: Malcolm McDowell, Lily Collins’ Father-in-Law, Says He’s Not a Fan of Emily in Paris

Malcolm McDowell Admits He Doesn’t Watch Daughter-in-Law Lily Collins’ Emily in Paris

Hollywood legend Malcolm McDowell, 82, revealed he’s never watched his daughter-in-law Lily Collins’ hit Netflix series Emily in Paris. Despite the show’s global success, the A Clockwork Orange star admitted the storyline—following an American marketing executive navigating Parisian life—isn’t his cup of tea.

“To be honest, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” McDowell told People. “But I’m her biggest fan. She’s one of the great actresses.” The veteran actor, whose son Charlie McDowell married Collins in 2021, praised her talent and screen presence, comparing her to Audrey Hepburn. “She has a beautiful quality—a charisma. When she’s on screen, there’s nobody else on it.”

McDowell also humorously credited the show with boosting Paris tourism: “I’m sure visits have gone up so much from Americans watching and thinking, ‘Let’s go to Paris!’”

While he avoids binge-watching the series, McDowell gushed about Collins’ off-screen warmth: “She’s what you see is what you get. She’s delightful.” The couple, however, splits time between Europe and the U.S., limiting family visits. “I don’t see enough of them, but when I do, it’s great to just hang,” he said.

Earlier this month, McDowell raved about his seven-month-old granddaughter, Tove, calling her “absolutely gorgeous.” He adores watching his grandchildren interact: “They’re so different in personality. It’s beautiful to watch.”

Though Emily in Paris isn’t his genre, McDowell’s admiration for Collins remains unwavering. “She’s a star. I’m in awe of her work,” he said, cementing his pride in her thriving career.
