New York-based Casely has issued a recall for 429,000 portable power banks after reports of lithium-ion batteries overheating, expanding, or catching fire. The affected Casely Power Pods (model E33A, 5000mAh capacity) were sold between March 2022 and September 2024 on Amazon, Casely’s website, and other platforms for $30–$70. At least 51 incidents have been reported, including six minor burn injuries.

Consumers are urged to stop using the chargers immediately and visit Casely’s website to request a free replacement. To qualify, users must submit photos of their device with “Recalled” and the date written on it. Casely has removed the product from sale, stating, “We are committed to customer safety and proactively addressing potential risks.”

Safety Disposal Warning
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns against tossing lithium-ion batteries in regular trash or recycling bins due to fire hazards. Proper disposal guidelines can be found via local waste management services.
