Sports presenter Vassos Alexander, 52, struggled to hold back tears during his emotional final broadcast on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio. After 14 years working alongside Evans, 59, he described their partnership as the “honour of my life,” calling their bond “the mother of bromances.”

A Heartfelt Tribute
During the show, Vassos played Evans’ favorite song, Wild West Hero by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), as a parting gift. “I only just discovered this is your favorite song,” he said. “So Chris, your friend Vassos picked it… because he loves you.” Evans humorously replied, “We can’t start crying now!” as both hosts laughed off the emotional tension.

Why Vassos Left
In May, Vassos announced his departure, explaining he wanted to explore new opportunities. “You’ve got to follow your heart,” he said, admitting that despite loving the show, he felt “something missing.” Evans praised his co-host’s dedication, calling their friendship “unstoppable.”

Fan Outpouring
Listeners flooded social media with support. One fan tweeted, “Will miss Vassos’ energy—good luck for the future!” Another added, “His chemistry with Chris was magic.” Virgin Radio shared a montage of Vassos’ highlights, including his failed “Sprite challenge” (drinking the soda without burping) and head-butting a football.

Legacy of Laughter
Vassos’ tenure included memorable moments like singing duets and quirky segments that endeared him to audiences. Evans joked about avoiding “three hours of crying” during the farewell, but the pair’s camaraderie shone through.
