Line of Duty star Vicky McClure, 42, left BBC’s The One Show audience in awe on Friday with an unexpected live performance alongside rock band Reverend and The Makers. The actress, known for her role as DI Kate Fleming, appeared on the show alongside the band’s frontman Jon McClure, 43, and actor Sam Claflin, 39, for a chat with hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo. But the real showstopper came at the end, when Vicky took the stage to perform the band’s new single, Haircut.

Dressed in a chic black tailored jumpsuit with velour panels and wide-leg trousers, paired with silver platform heels, Vicky confidently belted out the upbeat track. Fans rushed to social media to praise her surprise musical debut, with one calling it “absolutely brilliant” and others celebrating the collaboration.

The track, released July 18, marks Vicky’s first recorded vocal feature. Reverend and The Makers teased the collaboration earlier on Instagram, sharing a clip of Vicky and Jon performing together. In the post, Vicky humorously admitted, “I’m no Whitney [Houston], but I love music. Making this with Jon & Rev was such a chilled experience.”

The band also revealed that Vicky’s husband, Jonathan Owen, played bass on the track. While new to recording, Vicky is no stranger to music’s transformative power. In 2018, she fronted the BBC documentary Our Dementia Choir, where she formed a choir of people living with dementia in Nottingham. The project highlighted music’s ability to improve cognitive function and emotional well-being, and the choir continues to perform nationwide.
