Woman’s Genius Travel Hack Saves £70 on easyJet Cabin Baggage Fee at Airport

Thrifty Traveler’s Luggage Hack: Wearing Seven Pairs of Pants to Dodge £70 EasyJet Fee

A budget-savvy easyJet passenger, Bee Solman, 31, from Bristol, cleverly dodged a £70 baggage fee by layering seven pairs of trousers and multiple tops during a flight to Spain. The story has since gone viral for its ingenuity and humor.

The Dilemma
Bee and her partner Ben, 32, were returning from Murcia International Airport on April 20 after a trip funded by £280 return flights. Though they’d paid extra for preferred seats, they were flagged at the gate for a baggage check. Ben’s carry-on exceeded size limits, triggering a £70 fee. “They said we’d have to pay, but I refused,” Bee told Luxury Travel Daily. “Extra fees make flying so costly.”

The Hilarious Solution
With minutes to spare, Bee hatched a plan. In a bathroom stall, she layered two tops, a denim jacket, and seven pairs of trousers. Ben wore two shorts, three shirts, and tucked his laptop mouse into a pocket. The pair returned to the gate, where staff burst into laughter. “They took our photo and said we’d go viral,” Bee shared. “[But] they warned us not to try it again.”

Mission Accomplished
Once onboard, Bee stripped off the layers and repacked them. Fellow passengers joked about her “lighter” appearance post-flight. “It was ridiculous, but I’d do it again,” she laughed. EasyJet has not officially commented on the incident.
